A Bakers Dozen Bible Verses Every Child Should Know
Updated: Mar 31, 2022

This a collection of verses we feel every child should memorize to help ground them in the essential truths of the Christian faith.
1) Why do we memorize Bible verses? Our first verse answer this question:
"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness" - 2 Timothy 3:16
The Bible is full of truth about God, ourselves, and the world. When we memorize the Bible we will have these truths in our hearts so as to not forget or be swayed by false teachings.
The first section of verses are about the three persons of God that make up the Trinity. The Trinity is three distinct persons in one God. The Father, the Son, and the Spirit, all make up the Trinity and are all equally God.
2) God the Father
"Yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live." - 1 Corinthians 8:6
God is Father of all creation, and he is our Father when we believe in Jesus Christ.
3) God the Son
"No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known." - John 1:18
4) God the Holy Spirit
"And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever—the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you." - John 16-17
The second section are verses about salvation. We need salvation because all people have sinned against God. That means to do something that goes against his goodness, it keeps us separated from him and leads us to death. But God comes down as Jesus Christ to die a horrible death in our place, but he rises again and has victory over death. When we believe in Jesus the Holy Spirit comes to be in us and we can have a relationship with God again.
The memory verses are:
5) Our need for salvation
"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" - Romans 3:23
6) God coming to save us
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him." - John 3:16-17
7) Jesus died and rose again for us
